Senior Scientist, Antibody Screening

London
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your mission

Engitix Therapeutics is a pioneering biotech company dedicated to unlocking extracellular matrix biology to develop transformative therapeutics in fibrosis and oncology. We are seeking an accomplished Senior Scientist of Antibody Screening to play a lead role in selecting and characterising therapeutic antibody drug candidates.

We are looking for a highly experienced antibody screening scientist, where you will utilise your expertise to establish screening cascades for characterising the antibody hits in drug discovery programs. As a key component of this, demonstrable experience of binding assays in multiple formats and in SPR is essential. Further expertise in cell-based assays, epitope binning and/or developability profiling would be desirable.

Key responsibilities:

  • Establish hit-to-lead screening cascade assays to identify potent, functional and developable monoclonal antibodies, driving project progression through key milestones
  • Perform lab-based binding assays, including ELISA and SPR
  • Manage CROs for antibody production and/or other antibody-related activities
  • Analyse, interpret, report and present results in project meetings

Your profile

Qualifications and Competencies
  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline, plus 3 years’ experience in a drug screening environment; or an MSc plus 6 years of practical experience with a focus on immuno-oncology or fibrosis
  • Familiarity with antibody drug development is essential. As is, prior working experience in the biotech/pharma industry
  • An ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, biotech environment
  • Ability to plan, execute, and critically assess experiments independently
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to work to set deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with a methodical approach, high attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records
Desirable Experience
  • Fc effector function cell-based assays for ADCP, ADCC and CDC
  • Experience of primary cell culture for cells types relevant to fibrosis and oncology research
  • High-throughput screening approaches (e.g. 384-well format)
  • Epitope binning and/or antigen-antibody characterisation approaches
  • Antibody developability profiling

About us

Engitix is a growing biotech company based in White City Place, West London. We are dedicated to developing better therapies for advanced fibrosis and solid tumours by leveraging our pioneering extracellular matrix (ECM) platform. Our platform allows the synthesis of realistic in vitro 3D models that serve as tools to transform our ability to identify new targets and biomarkers, determine mechanisms of action and more accurately predict the efficacy of therapeutic candidates.

Join us today in our mission to create a healthier future for patients with life-threatening diseases such as fibrosis and cancer.
