Permanent employee

Your mission

We are seeking an accomplished Senior scientist of macrophage biology to provide scientific leadership in macrophage biology and immune-stromal interactions, driving target identification, validation and translational strategy across our fibrosis and oncology discovery portfolio.

We are looking for an expert in macrophage biology who will use their experience to establish macrophage-based target screening assays combined with our novel extracellular matrix-based cell models, utilising cellular, immunological, biochemical, molecular biology and functional genomic approaches. You will also provide scientific mentorship and technical guidance to scientists across discovery programmes, champion innovative approaches and emerging technologies in macrophage and immune-stromal biology, and represent macrophage biology expertise within cross-functional project teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish a suite of macrophage functionality assays to target discovery and drug discovery flowcharts, including activation, cytokine secretion, phagocytosis and efferocytosis assays.
  • Optimise macrophage target screening-based systems utilising annotated lmw libraries and functional genomic approaches such as siRNA and CrispR library-based approaches.
  • Lead a small team of immunologists/cell biologists involved in execution of projects across both the internal and external biopartnerships.
  • Lead the build novel macrophage drug target nomination packages and present case to the leadership for portfolio entry.
  • Analyse, interpret, report and present results.

  • Demonstrable experience in target nomination and validation in a biotech or pharmaceutical based setting.
  • Expertise in the use of multi-colour flow cytometry and IF techniques.
  • Hands-on experience of key immunological and molecular biology techniques including MSD, RNA/DNA. extraction, qRT-PCR, western blotting, siRNA knockdown.
  • Have team and direct people leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with molecular pharmacology and oncology drug development would be an advantage.
  • Prior working experience in the biotech/pharma industry performing laboratory research would be a further plus.

Qualifications and Competencies

About us

Engitix is a growing biotech company based in White City Place, West London. We are dedicated to developing better therapies for advanced fibrosis and solid tumours by leveraging our pioneering extracellular matrix (ECM) platform. Our platform allows the synthesis of realistic in vitro 3D models that serve as tools to transform our ability to identify new targets and biomarkers, determine mechanisms of action and more accurately predict the efficacy of therapeutic candidates.

Join us today in our mission to create a healthier future for patients with life-threatening diseases such as fibrosis and cancer.
